Kevin Moran is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Central Florida where he is also affiliated with the Cyber Security and Privacy Cluster (CyberSP) and directs the SAGE Research Lab. He was previously an Assistant Professor at George Mason University from 2020-2023. He graduated with his B.A. in Physics with a Computer Science Minor from the College of the Holy Cross in 2013. He graduated with his M.S. in Computer Science from William & Mary in 2015, and his Ph.D. in Computer Science from William & Mary in 2018, advised by Dr. Denys Poshyvanyk. His main research interests include software engineering, security, maintenance, and evolution with a focus on mobile platforms. Additionally, he explores applications of machine learning to data mined from software repositories in order to build practical automated tools for developers.

Bio

Dr. Moran is originally from Maitland, Florida. Kevin Moran earned his B.A in Physics and Computer Science from the College of the Holy Cross in 2013, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from William & Mary in 2015 and 2018 respectively.

 

Short Bio


I am originally from Maitland, FL. I completed my B.A. in Physics and Computer Science at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. While at Holy Cross I conducted research in the field of Atomic Physics advised by Dr. Timothy Roach. I was a four-year member of the varsity rowing team, earning a bid to compete at the IRA Intercollegiate National Rowing Championships in my senior year.  During my graduate career, I have enjoyed working as an Assistant Coach for the William & Mary Rowing Club. I earned my M.S. & Ph.D. in computer science with a focus on software engineering in 2015 and 2018 respectively, advised by Dr. Denys Poshyvanyk. My research interests include mobile software engineering, mining software repositories at large scale, designing techniques that aid developers in more easily creating secure software and applying emerging machine learning techniques to support software engineering tasks. I was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at George Mason University from 2020-2023, and I am currently an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of Central Florida.
